RediRad classic car radio adapter lets you listen to MP3/Satellite/iPod/CD players through your AM, factory-original Radio!

Troubleshooting

Please review the following suggestions if you are having difficulty getting your RediRad™ to bridge the gap between your factory radio and your portable music player.

1. Verify the obvious:

  • Does the radio work (radio fuse is not blown)?
  • Is the antenna cable is fully plugged into the RediRad™, and is the RediRad™ fully plugged into the antenna jack on the radio?
  • Is the RediRad's™ RED wire properly connected to the vehicle's 12V supply?
  • Is the RediRad's™ BLACK wire properly connected to the vehicle's ground?
  • Do the batteries for your portable music source have enough charge?
  • Is the radio on with the volume at least partially turned up?
  • If you have an AM/FM radio, are you on the AM band?
  • Is your radio tuned to roughly 1000 on the dial?
  • Is your portable music source volume set to about mid-level and is the PLAY button pressed??
    • iPod® owners: Go to Main/Settings/Volume Limit and set it
to at least 70% of full limit.

2. Verify the non-obvious:

Note: if you are inexperienced making resistance and voltage measurements with an electrical multimeter, please ask a friend who is experienced in this area for help.

  • Before connecting the RED and BLACK RediRad™ power leads to the vehicle, verify the presence of normal charging system voltage across the battery terminals between when the vehicle is running.
  • Ensure that the 12V tap off the fuse panel energized when the ignition is in the "ON" or "ACC" position. (We recommend that you connect the RED power lead to the fuse panel tap in a manner so that it will be de-energized with the ignition switch in the "OFF" position.)
  • Ensure that the BLACK wire is connected to a reliable, known ground point on the body or dashboard (such that the resistance between this point and the negative terminal of the battery is less than a few tenths of an ohm).
