The RediRad is an exciting, money-saving solution that allows you to enjoy music favorites from your portable music player through the existing radio in your collector car or truck.
Which RediRad™ is right for my collector car?
First, determine whether your car has a 6 volt or a 12 volt battery. Second, determine whether the electrical system ground is connected to the positive or the negative side of the battery. Third, determine whether your radio is AM-only or is an AM-FM. Click here for full product selection guide
How do I order a RediRad™?
Be sure to specify the appropriate model RediRad™ - Refer to the preceding question.
What portable music players can I use with the RediRad™?
The RediRad will work seamlessly with virtually all portable music players (such as an iPod, jogger’s FM radio, MP-3, CD or a cassette player, or even satellite radio) with a headphone or a ‘line-out’ socket. (Use the headphone socket if your player has both output types.) .
Will a RediRad™ work with a 6-volt electrical system?

How does the RediRad™ work?
The RediRad operates like an A/B switch: In default mode, the radio receives over-the-air signals that pass straight through the RediRad. In RediRad mode, music signals from your portable music player enter the RediRad via the audio input cable (that plugs into the portable’s headphone jack) and get converted into a radio-frequency signal that the radio treats like regular broadcast. Turn on the radio, tune it to the proper frequency and ENJOY! The RediRad returns to normal broadcast-receive mode within about 45 seconds of turning off the portable music player.
My car is in storage until spring. When does my 60-day evaluation period start?
If you order a RediRad now but don’t have access to your car for a while (because it is in storage, getting serviced, repainted, etc.), simply let us know when you place your order and we will postpone the start of your 60-day evaluation period.
Why does the RediRad-AM™ use the AM band?
Most pre-1970 cars were factory-equipped with only an AM radio.
Does the RediRad add FM to my AM radio?
Not by itself. Think of the RediRad as a bridge between your existing radio and today’s portable music players. With an AM-only radio, you will use an inexpensive portable ‘walkman’-type of FM radio (available separately) and a RediRad to receive FM broadcast signals. This approach saves you hundreds of dollars over converting your AM-only radio just to have this functionality.
Is RediRad™ compatible with digital (quartz) tuners?
AM-band RediRads (see application table above) will work but there may be background noise. If your radio has a digital display and an FM band, use the RediRad-FM for great results.
Will I experience broadcast interference while listening to music from my portable source?
No. The RediRad electronically “disconnects” the antenna when you want listen with your portable player and automatically reconnects it when you’re done.
Will the RediRad™ work with my original vacuum-tube radio?
Does the RediRad™ add FM to my AM radio?
No. Think of the RediRad™ as a “gateway” between your AM radio and other portable music players. You will need a portable FM radio and a RediRad™ to receive FM broadcast. We stock an easy-to-use pocket FM radio if you need one.
Can I tune in broadcast radio with the RediRad™ plugged into my portable player?
Yes, with your with your portable music source switched OFF.
Will the RediRad™ degrade regular, over-the-air broadcast signal reception?
Not at all. Regular broadcast signals pass straight through when there’s no portable-player audio entering the RediRad.
What are the electrical requirements to use the RediRad™?
Besides a portable music player, working radio and a speaker (or speakers), the RediRad™ is available for both 6V and 12V versions and for either positive or negative ground electrical systems.
Does my car need an antenna to use a RediRad™?
Nope. If you have a rod or kustom without an antenna but a period correct radio, for the first time you can have the look you want and enjoy your tunes through it.
